When you become a patient of mine for braces, Invisalign or other treatment, we form a life-long relationship. That’s why at All-Star Orthodontics, we offer FREE RETAINERS FOR LIFE! As long as we are around to make them, we will provide patients with free retainers to maintain their smile.
This is a perk unique to All-Star Orthodontics. Many practices charge up to $400 for replacement retainers. Of course, if we make ’em, you’ve got to wear ’em!
If you had braces, you will have to wear retainers.
With proper cleaning and care, your retainers should last you many years. We recommend wearing them continuously for about 10-12 months after treatment. Certainly take them out for eating and drinking, but it is a good idea to wear the retainer most of the time day and night.
After about a year, you can begin to wear them nightly to keep your teeth from shifting. Jaw structure, muscular changes, grinding teeth, and aging will result in a normal tendency of the teeth to shift. Keep them aligned with your retainer!
Retainers in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Retainers come in a few shapes and sizes (and colors). The one pictured here is called a Hawley retainer, made of wire and an acrylic arch that sits in the palate.
Another type of retainer is an Essix retainer or clear / invisible retainer. These look much like Invisalign trays. Like Hawley retainers, they are designed to maintain teeth alignment after treatment.
Fixed retainers are another option to maintain straight teeth after treatment. They typically consist of a small wire behind the teeth which is attached permanently (although can be removed at a later time). This is a great option if you want to set it and forget it!
Even Invisalign patients get a retainer!
Once your Invisalign treatment is completed, you need to maintain the alignment that the trays worked so hard to achieve! A final impression or digital scan will be taken to create a set of clear retainers. They should last many years, although clear retainers are not as durable as Hawley retainers.
Lose your retainer? Don’t delay, call today!
If you lose your retainer, give us a call as soon as possible to set up an appointment for your replacement. It is best not to let much time pass or your replacement retainer may be a tight fit or a bit uncomfortable.
